Patient Health Information and Privacy

Your privacy is our priority. Nerang Medical Centre & Skin Clinic is committed to protecting your personal and health information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), the Privacy Act 1988, and all relevant Queensland health privacy legislation.

We collect personal and health information directly from you to provide safe, high-quality medical care. This may include your medical history, current medications, allergies, test results, family history, and lifestyle information that supports accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

All health information is securely stored within our Best Practice clinical software and protected by passwords, user access controls, and regular data backups. Only authorised members of our clinical and administrative team can access your records for legitimate medical or administrative purposes. Any paper-based information is kept in locked storage and disposed of securely when no longer required.

We take all reasonable steps to ensure your information remains accurate, complete, and up to date. If your contact or health details change, please inform our reception team so your record can be updated.

Your information may be shared with other healthcare professionals involved in your care—such as specialists, hospitals, allied health providers, or pathology and radiology services—only with your consent or when required by law (for example, in cases of notifiable diseases or court orders).

You have the right to access your medical record, review the information we hold about you, or request corrections if any details are inaccurate or incomplete. Requests can be made in writing to our practice manager or through our reception team.

Our team is also trained to handle your health information responsibly, ensuring confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with all privacy obligations at every stage of care.
