Antenatal & Pregnancy Care in Nerang, Gold Coast

Congratulations on your pregnancy. At Nerang Medical Centre & Skin Clinic, our caring GPs provide antenatal (pregnancy) care for families across Nerang and the Gold Coast, supporting you and your baby from early pregnancy through to after your baby arrives. We offer GP shared care in collaboration with your chosen hospital, with female and male GPs available. We’re open 7 days a week, close to home with free parking inside My Centre Nerang.

When to book your first appointment

If you think you might be pregnant or have a positive test, it’s a good idea to see a GP early – ideally in the first few weeks. We can confirm your pregnancy, talk through your options for care, arrange early tests, and help you plan the months ahead.

Our antenatal services

Confirming your pregnancy and planning care:
We confirm your pregnancy, discuss your care options (including GP shared care), and help you decide on a hospital and birth plan that suits you.

Pregnancy check-ups:
Regular appointments to check your wellbeing and your baby’s growth and development, and to answer your questions at each stage.

Tests, screening and ultrasounds:
We arrange the recommended pregnancy blood tests, screening and ultrasound scans (with imaging and pathology providers), and review your results with you. On-site 4Cyte pathology means many blood tests can be done conveniently.

GP shared care We provide GP shared antenatal care in collaboration with your chosen hospital — meaning some of your pregnancy visits happen with us, close to home, and others at the hospital, for continuity and convenience.

Pregnancy vaccinations:
Some vaccinations are recommended during pregnancy to help protect you and your baby, including whooping cough (pertussis) and the flu vaccine. (See [Immunisation].)

Managing common pregnancy symptoms:
Support and advice for nausea, fatigue, back pain and other common pregnancy changes.

Wellbeing and mental health:
Pregnancy and early parenthood can affect your mental health. We’re here to check in on how you’re feeling and to provide support. (See [Mental Health].)

After your baby arrives:
We continue your care after birth, including postnatal checks for you and health and immunisation checks for your baby. (See [Child Health] and [Women’s Health].)

What is GP shared care?

GP shared care lets you have some of your routine pregnancy appointments with a GP close to home, while your hospital team manages your birth. It can mean less travel and more continuity with a doctor who knows you, while keeping the support of your hospital’s maternity service. Your GP will help you understand whether shared care suits your pregnancy.

What to expect & fees

Your first pregnancy appointment is usually longer, so please mention you’re booking for pregnancy care. Bring details of any current medications and your Medicare card. Bulk billing is available for eligible Medicare patients with participating doctors, and many antenatal consultations are covered by Medicare; some investigations (such as ultrasounds and certain tests) are provided by external providers and may involve an out-of-pocket cost. Please check billing with the doctor’s profile, see [Bulk Billing & Fees], or call (07) 5620 3633.
