Cardiology & Heart Health Care in Nerang, Gold Coast
Your heart health is an important part of your overall wellbeing. At Nerang Medical Centre & Skin Clinic, our GPs provide heart health checks and risk assessments, and we offer access to a visiting cardiologist on site – so eligible patients can have specialist cardiovascular assessment locally, without travelling elsewhere. Your GP can assess your heart health, arrange investigations, and refer you to the cardiologist when specialist care is needed. We’re open 7 days a week, close to home in Nerang.

How it works
- Start with your GP. Your GP reviews your symptoms, history and risk factors, checks your blood pressure and arranges any initial investigations (such as blood tests or an ECG).
- Referral to the cardiologist when needed. If specialist input would help, your GP provides a referral to our visiting cardiologist – a referral is needed for a Medicare rebate on the specialist consultation.
- Ongoing management. Your GP and the cardiologist coordinate your care, and your GP supports ongoing monitoring and management close to home. As a MyMedicare-registered practice, we’re set up to support this continuity.
When to talk to your GP about your heart (non-urgent)
It’s worth booking a GP appointment to discuss your heart health if you have:
- high blood pressure or high cholesterol
- a family history of heart disease
- ongoing breathlessness on exertion, or occasional palpitations
- diabetes or other risk factors
- simply want a heart health check.
If you experience severe or sudden symptoms, including chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, fainting, or symptoms of a heart attack, call 000 immediately. Seek emergency care rather than waiting for an appointment.
